Turmeric Smoothie

“Tastes like fall in a cup”, a direct quote from our staff and friends at Pondicheri who were here during this smoothie's testing! The fresh turmeric is an anti-inflammatory while the soaked almonds are easier to digest than raw almonds (and makes it easier to peel the skins off!).

Step 1
Soak the almonds in 1/4 cup of hot water for 10 minutes or longer. Peel and discard the skin, save the soaking water. Peel the turmeric and slice.
Step 2
In a blender combine the turmeric, almonds, bananas, cinnamon, salt, reserved water, and 1 cup of liquid. Blend until smooth.
2-inch piece of fresh turmeric root
2 tablespoons almonds
2 bananas
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch of sea salt
1 cup water or ice (or coconut water)

Notes & Variations

  • Top with fresh fruit, jam, syrup, or nut butter!
  • Use frozen bananas to get a colder, thicker smoothie.
