Ruby Sour

The only work here is in making the pomegranate syrup. It’s what we call in India sherbat, which are commonly sold in many flavors around the country. Once you’ve made the syrup, the rest of the drink is easy. Another popular one at the bar at Pondicheri.

Step 1
Combine bourbon, lemon juice, and pomegranate syrup in a tumbler filled with ice. Shake and strain liquids into a cold or pre-refrigerated glass with ice.
Step 2
Toss in the lemon wheels and a few pomegranate seeds.

1 1/2 ounces bourbon


3/4 ounce lemon juice


3/4 ounce pomegranate syrup

Garnish:

2 lemon wheels

Pomegranate seeds

Notes & Variations

  • Use a pre-refrigerated glass for a more refreshing finish!
  • Prepare the pomegranate syrup at least two hours in advance.
  • To remove the sugar, replace the syrup with pomegranate juice and 1/2 ounces of honey.
  • Large ice cubes are extremely fun and a great way to elevate a cocktail! Many online and restaurant stores have large ice cube trays with cube and circular variations.
